The tracks might not be laid, but the wheels of the city’s light-rail dreams are definitely in motion. A consultant hired to undertake a $3-million planning, design and engineering study for a 16-kilometre, east-west track through the lower city is meeting with stakeholders and gearing up to draft a preliminary design report. That will show what the system will look like, from the stations, to the types of trains, to the changes to city streets these vehicles will require.
