Council approves Aerotropolis in 2005

Council last night approved one of the largest urban boundary expansions in the city’s history. Council voted 12-4 to designate the land around the John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport as a future site for industrial growth. The 1,200-hectares is presently zoned agricultural. Voting for the boundary expansion were Mayor Larry Di Ianni and councillors Phil Bruckler, Chad Collins, Murray Ferguson, Tom Jackson, Bill Kelly, Sam Merulla, Bernie Morelli, Dave Mitchell, Maria Pearson, Art Samson and Terry Whitehead.
