City studying eco-industrial park
source: thespec.comWendy LeBreton says Hamilton’s proposed Airport Employment Growth District (AEGD) should be an eco-industrial park with green buildings, a district heating system, maybe its own waste water plant, even a system in which one business makes products from another’s waste.
The concept is still in its infancy, but growing, with examples of a new eco-industrial park, Innovista, in Hinton, Alta., and a retrofit plan for Burnside Park in Dartmouth, N.S., according to LeBreton, sustainability analyst for Eco-Industrial Solutions, a western Canadian consulting company.
