The City of Hamilton identified the AEGD as an important economic engine for the future of Hamilton. Many studies have supported this. Current projections estimate that 20,000-30,000 jobs would be created with the development of the AEGD.
While the employment opportunities are important, the AEGD could mean even more. This is an opportunity to create something new and different in Hamilton – an environmentally sensitive, eco-industrial community with a character we can all be proud of.
To help guide and gain feedback on the AEGD, a Community Liaison Committee was developed in 2007. On September 30, 2010 the CLC completed its final commitment to the AEGD project, and has since disbanded. However further information on the role of the CLC in the AEGD can be found on the City of Hamilton website.
